Yep. I like the NothingOS Atari-like icons and midi sounds, but that looks fugly. Case design will be a challenge with one lens way close to the edge and the ASUS-inspired light matrix. But we only have to wait until Tuesday to know for sure.

I thought the Nothing Phone 3(a) Pro had one of the ugliest camera bumps, and this manages to be somehow worse.

Nothing is a gimmicky OEM. It's one and only USP seems to be "look at our rear lights".
There’s truth in this… but in this competitive tech space that we are in, they have to be (in an effort to gain some attention). Samsung was once labeled a gimmicky OEM at one point… not trying to insinuate that Nothing is like Samsung.

But there’s plenty of Android OEMs to choose from… to Samsung, BBK phones (Oppo, OnePlus, Vivo), Huawei, Motorola, Pixels and some other brands out there. In order to stand out from the group… I think being gimmicky has to play some kind of role.

While that is true, I think they're trying too hard.

Perhaps so, but I believe it’s accomplishing the goal… with us discussing it. I, for one… am not interested in it. But there might be some who think it’s an interesting phone to at least try out (especially Nothing stans).

As they say… “beauty is in the eye of the beholder,” and here is one comment from a post in the Nothing’s Reddit thread.

I guess leaks are true rNOTHING.png

A very good point. While I don't like the current design either, the fact that they're taking risks is a huge plus to me. I, too, am sick of the same old slab after slab copying each other or trying to be something they're not. I get Nothing's approach, but with this one, I think it's a misfire.

The phone are actually pretty good. They have a really nice stock feel Android skin with some good additions. I'm a fan.

What I'm not a fan of, though... is this leaked design. Awful. No one wants a phone to look like that IMO. Yikes.

Suddenly the iPhone tri-camera looks great!

Nothing's designs appeal to a...certain clientele. It looks like that so that normal people (are we normal?) talk about them and so that influencers show them off. They look great in a YouTube thumbnail, not so much in person.

I haven't seen anyone with one out in the wild yet, but you're right: they do look good in pictures. I actually like the 3a. Of course they don't support my carrier, though...

Do people really care all that much about a smartphone's rear camera layout?

Look at the iPhone lately, it's rear camera setup is hideous as is the dumb front island camera thing, and the rear makes the phone rock when using on a desk. Yet tens of millions don't complain and still buy iPhone's for whatever reason.

I love the Pixel's straight across the rear camera setup, it makes the phone stable on a table, plus looks cool

As an iPhone 15 PM owner, I'm getting REALLY TIRED of $1800 phones ... been looking at the Fair Phone and Nothing Phone and other options that are less than half of what I pay for my iPhone (won't be upgrading for a long time - finances are bit different today than they were almost 2 years ago).

Me? I could care less what the camera layout is... just knowing that I spent less than half of what did for my iPhone would make me carry that thing around with great pride. lol.

Like other posters, I'm stuck on Verizon Wireless so ... my options are limited - but again, won't be upgrading for awhile (have been keeping my eye on these alternatives).

Between the red recording square light, the glyph matrix, the button on the back for those lights, and all those wacky lenses… there’s no way to cover it up with a case. You can’t disguise the ugly.

Did anyone watch their presentation? less than 20 minutes to introduce the phone and headphones. I thought Samsung events were cringe but this was somehow worse. I still watch the tech events (if I'm not working) because I like to see what's being announced.

Samsung on the 9th, Google next month and then Apple in September. It's a great time of year for presentations, even if some of them are cringey

Did anyone watch their presentation?
I tried. Pei’s forced humor in that first 15 minutes of banter was painful. Not everyone nails the personality section of the presentation like Steve Jobs or Craig Federighi. I found myself bailing on the live reveal and just scrubbing through the video an hour later to look at the good bits.
