Is it just me, or has cingular been boosting their coverage lately? I'm actually a T-Mobile guy, and in the basements of my Uni where my classes are, I never got reception down there. Now all of a sudden, I'm getting reception - lo and behold, my cell phone says it is CINGULAR.

Now I actually have to turn my phone off for classes - I didn't have to worry about it going off in class before.

Cingular's coverage is so crappy though, that even with a boost, you're still better off with 2 tin cans and a string

All depends on the area you're in- in my area Cingular is by far the best carrier- though I have been experiencing some dropped calls here and there in the past couple of weeks, whereas before I don't even remember ever having even one.. Maybe it has something to do with them changing over to At&T- though I don't know why that would matter- maybe it's my phone..

    You're too kind!

I am constantly amazed on these boards how one person has a particular experience and therefore it's true for everyone!

I had cingular for a year up until 6 months ago when I switched to Verizon. I live in Phoenix, and had no complaints at all with Cingular, except for the fact that inorder to have a signal in my house, I had to press myself up next to a window like an idiot. Hopefully things will be better once I get my hands on an iPhone.

Apple being as strict about quality as they are, they'll probably be pushing Cingular to make sure their network drops as little an amount of calls as possible with iphone.

Hasn't Cingular always been AT&T? About 8 or 9 years ago, AT&T bought Cingular, but kept the Cingular name for their wireless division because the Cingular name was more widely known. Now they are just switching the name back to AT&T (for whatever reason), so the coverage should be the same because it's still the same company - just a different name.
