It's not a scam....phone arrived Friday and was locked to be activated on November 9th according to AT&T. They said that Apple had sent out locked units and AT&T was helping getting these phones activated, they helped in our case and everything was fine until the email arrived and it shut off the data portion to our phone. Again, had to call AT&T they gave us temp. Data (3gb) until they can fix the issue (want unlimited back). So long story short its an issue which started with Apple and is finishing with AT&T...by the way both of them had good customer service and helped us with the issue.

I received a similar email but my email from Apple said "Congratulations, your phone had now been activated. At the same time I received an email from AT&T saying that I had updated my email address which I had not.

Logged into my AT&T account to find out that my unlimited data had been switched out for a 300mb plan. Called AT&T and they said it was a system glitch and they'll have my unlimited data back on my account by the 2nd.

If you get those emails double check your account to make sure that all is right.

Scam don't do it. Call apple directly and ask them if that email is real.

Omg so stupid. It's called a phishing scam.

Anybody else receive one of these? My phone is activated and working fine.

This exact thing happened to me. I am SO glad to hear I'm not the only one.

I think he meant, did they tell you the information and you verified it, or they asked you for the information and they "verified" it.

Yeah, that was my point.

If Apple has your details and they're correct, what use is phoning up and giving them again going to do? If they have a problem with the details, repeating them isn't going to fix it.

Really? You feel the need to call me stupid for double checking what others thought? OMG!

This is NOT a scam and the phone number is from Apple. Apple told me that there was an issue with activating my Unlimited Data plan on the ATT side. There is a database issue with how Apple sends the data across to AT&T. On the AT&T side, the "Unlimited Data Plan" is not recognized. In my case, my internet was turned COMPLETELY OFF from my iPhone 5 and removed from the system. This was on Saturday am. The phone worked perfectly all day Friday. Apple then told me there was nothing that could be done on their side, and I needed to contact AT&T. They transferred me to AT&T where the process is now being handled. The person at AT&T said that "Unlimited Data" is not something that they can add since the grandfathered plans are not in their system anymore. So, in the meantime, they put me on the 3GB plan and sent an escalation request so that I would have internet until this process is complete. Remember, I had NO internet at all on my phone. When the AT&T rep turned the internet back on, I had to do a full reboot. Since I was talking to her on the iPhone, she had to call me on my land line since the reboot would cause the phone to hang up. She immediately called me back, and the Caller ID was from a valid AT&T help number. I have a case ID and I am following up today with AT&T to verify that my Unlimited Data gets successfully put back on my account, because no way am I going to be accepting up a restricted 3GB plan. That's total BS with an LTE phone.

<edit> I just got off the phone with AT&T, and they confirmed that they were able to re-add the Unlimited Data back onto my account and the case status is now closed. I verified online, and it also states that I'm back on Unlimited. As of Saturday after I spoke with the AT&T rep, online said I was on 3GB.

<edit> The only information they had me "verify" when I called was the Transaction Number in the Email, The Billing Address, and the Order Number from the iPhone Order. Never once did they ask for any pin numbers, etc. Those I would have never given. And seeing as how the internet was physically turned off, something was definitely wrong.
