iPhone Notification app icon badges for Google Calendar & Ring Doorbell?

I have an iPhone SE running the latest iOS 13. In Settings -> Notifications, I have the "Badges" switch turned ON for both Google Calendar and Ring Doorbell apps. However, I do not get any red icon badge when I get notifications from those apps.

Do some apps simply not support the red icon badge? Or should I be seeing a red icon app badge for every single app that I have that setting turned on for in Settings -> Notifications?

The ring doorbell app certainly doesn’t support that (badges). Not sure about the google one. They show up in the usual notifications though.

Personally, never have seen any badges from Google Calendar. Not a big deal as that is a backup calendar to Calendar/Reminders for me (flight info, birthdays).
