99% of the time my iPhone is on vibrate only. Every now and then I turn the volume on or hit it accidentally at some point. I only really notice this when plugged into my 2020 Subaru Outback using CarPlay. The Chimes and dings come in super loud. I generally listen to Audible at a normal volume, calls are at a normal volume, but chimes and any notification sound comes out crazy loud. Is there a setting somewhere for this? It really is jarring and caught me off guard the other day giving me a jump scare while out and about.

In order to adjust the prompt volume, you have to have Siri talking and while (s)he's talking, change the volume via the head unit controls. The easiest way is to ask Siri to tell you a joke, which will cause Siri to launch a longer announcement ... and adjust the volume while it's speaking.

Thanks I will give that a try, pretty unintuitive and bizarre way to accomplish this. To me it sounds like it will just change the volume of everything and not the phone itself. Will check it out after work. Thanks again!

Not sure if it works with CarPlay but with the HomePod and AirPods, you can just ask Siri to speak louder or lower and she responds with “ok, I’ll speak louder (or softer)”

Feel like a real dope. In playing around with settings in my Outback I found a slider for notification volume. Slide that down to 25% as it was at 100%. All fine now. Gotta get used to this high tech car!
