Ive will wear brown shoes with a black belt before he puts something so "utilitarian" like that on his "art".

It seems this request always comes from people who grew to appreciate this feature when using a different product. And those products didn't do everything Apple's way, either. It's kind of like telling your second spouse, "I sure wish you were more like my first spouse."

I bet if the question was, "Who would like to have an LED flash for the front camera as well as the back camera?" you'd have more takers. Who would object to better-quality selfies? (Rhetorical question - no cries of "Vanity!") And just as the back camera flash can also be used as a flashlight, folks could have the option to use the front camera flash for notifications.

In short, if one component can serve several purposes, then more people will find it useful.

Unfortunately as many have said, don't expect it anytime soon or at all in the near future. I love when this subject comes up because I usually chime in as its one of the things I wish apple would implement. However, I've gotten ripped a new one on here by the people who oppose it which I find hilarious considering it's very useful.

Last android I had was a Samsung Galaxy s3. I only got it because my iPhone 4 got stolen and I was going on vacation in a day or two from then. When I went to get a new iPhone, Samsung had just released the s3. I was drawn to it by its larger screen and new experiences. The most fun I had was the customization of the OS and one of the things was designating different LED colors for different notifications. Without turning on the screen I was able to see what I was missing. With that said, the phone gave me problems with apps running the background, sometimes crashing the phone and killing the battery.

With the release of the s8 and talking to people who have the s7 and s6, they have had no problems and it is something I may consider just for a nice change and believe it or not they still have the LED notification on it.

Meh. Don't see the need. Fought this one multiple times previously. No longer have the strength to argue about it. If you can convince Tim and Jony, go for it.

That's one feature I used to miss from years of using android phones. But the glance feature makes up for this, even if I need to pick it up for order for it to work.

I had high hopes when the 5s launched that the ring around the home button would be the same type of thing as the LED around the home button on my old HTC Touch Pro.

Alas, it was merely TouchID. :(
