I’ve had this problem on and off for years and it seems to be back in iOS 26. My notification volume keeps randomly spiking. Suddenly I’ll get a text and it’s as if my phone volume is at maximum. I don’t have alert volume linked to the buttons. The only way to fix it is a complete power cycle of the phone. Anyone else having this problem and, if so, know of a fix?

I have fought this for a year or more. But just recently I found a low tech potential explanation for it.

I keep my phone on a charging stand on an end table about three feet from my right ear. The way the phone sits on the cradle, there is a small gap between the bottom of the phone and the shelf the phone sits on. This acts as a deflector and directs the sound forward towards my ear. To verify this, I simply unplugged the cradle and the sound was still very loud. When I laid the phone on the table, the sound returned to a normal level.

I am pretty sure I have never heard notification sounds too loud with the phone anywhere except on the charging stand.
I'm not 100% on this, but it seems to explain it in my case.

The issue I'm seeing is not when the phone is charging. It happens during regular use.
