Thinking of switching from iOS to Android. One of my big hang ups with Android was no dynamic notifications. Not sure if that’s the right term. What I mean is if, for example, I get a sports highlight notification. On iOS, when I 3D Touch the notification, I get a video of the highlight in the notification. On Android in the past I would need to tap on the notification and go into the app to see the highlight. Same with my Nest app. When I get a security camera motion notification, on iOS I get a short video of the motion that triggered the alert. Does android still not do this or has that changed?

There is no 3D touch equivalent on Android and its strongly rumoured to be dropped or partially dropped on the next gen of Iphones, guess we will find out next week :)

Android notifications otherwise were better for sometime over IOS however IOS12 hopes to catch up on these features like group notifications

8.1 and above on Note 9 and Essential, notifications can preview content.

Swipe down on desktop (not top of screen) or touch app icon. Much easier than iOS 12.

What about long pressing on the app icon and seeing a preview of your notification on android?

As IowaLynn advises it may be a 8.1 feature but on 8.0 you only invoke the customisation/move/uninstall options from the app icon long press

I will have to wait for the 9.0 update on my S9+

I only had 8.0 on my S9 plus and I could see a preview of notifications by long pressing on the app icons. I had to enable it in the settings.

I can get an icon on the lock screen that gives preview when pressed but not actually the app icon in the apps tray

Setting must be hiding from me :)
I’m trying to see how I did it on my husband’s note 8. I had the apps on my home screen on the S9 plus.

I think I confused people with saying 3D Touch. That’s just how you preview a notification on the lock screen in iOS. Basically the video is embedded in the notification on iOS. I can see the video in the notification and not have to actually open the app. Can this happen on Android?

Yes I understood this :)

But I am not sure re your video if your receiving pushed rich imbedded media opposed to app notifications. Both OSs can receive these and they play without needing an app, not that I get any LOL

I suspect thats what your receiving from your security cam and possibly you have subscribed to a sports feed

Here's a brief round-up about app notifications:

This is what I’m talking about. See how I can view the video within the notification preview without actually going into the app
