Notifications on both

Can you get notification with sound on both iPhone and watch if I’m not on either. I’m only getting notified on watch even when phone isn’t opened.

No - by design, your phone stops going off when you have the watch on, and notifications are directed to your wrist.

I just did a test. I received an alert on the watch but didn't respond to it then I checked my phone. The alert was on my phone. I then responded to my watch and the alert disappeared from the lock screen of the phone. I don't have sound on so I didn't test that part.

I remember buying the very first model Apple watch and that was my very first question was why my phone stopped making notification sounds.

You don’t have a pop up notification but it will still be there on the phone screen. This is by design.

but if your phone screen is on it will pop up.

While my AW5 notifies with sound, I still get a pop up on my phone. I have "show previews" in notification settings set as "always." They show up whether the screen is locked or not.

That’s how my settings are also. But when I get a message it pops up on my watch but not on my phone.
