About 2 years ago, we were at my grandma and grandpa's house in Sarasota, which is like an hour away. While cooking lunch, my dad and I found a container of minced onions from "Safeway" (an old grocery store) with no expiration date on it.

Now, my grandparents used to live in Council Bluffs Iowa and by looking online, we found out that the last Safeway there closed in 1978. My Grandparents had only moved twice since 1978, and the fact that they kept it that long was quite scary.

Safeway is still very much alive, here at least.

Let's see... not entirely sure what the date on it was, but last year in the vegetable drawer of our fridge, there was something in a plastic bag. It was liquified, and had once been a vegetable, but I have no idea what kind of vegetable it was. Nasty.

I've poured some expired milk on cereal...and ate it. I knew something was wrong when I noticed a strange bitter taste.

I once found a small amount of rancid milk in a cup, which I had in my room for too long. That was nauseating.

Oh, and cleaning out two refrigerators after my hurricane Wilma power outage...

I also once bought a wax pack of cards, i believe they were a pack of 1987 Topps, (This was probably around 95, 96) and attempted to eat the gum. However it sort of crumbled apart and when i tried to chew it, it crunched so i spit it out.

I've done exactly what you've described. :D I can still recall the wonderful cardboard taste of the gum I tried to eat.

Well me and my dad were cleaning out my grandmas house ,who now has alzhimerz, we went through her pantrey in her basement. We had some things that were from the 80's! (i think 81) I think it was some type of drink mix and mayo...

I just took 2 asprin that expired in June of '58....

Shouldn't be to bad for you. Asprin releases an acetyl group and changes into salycylic acid which is also used for pain. Its harder on the stomach and not quite as good for most things but has other advantages (can't remember what though)

Haha, good for acne-- but I think that it's supposed to be topically applied. :p

Just thought of another incident...

A few years ago, I used to collect my morning latte in one of those thermal cups. I'd drink the coffee, wash out the cup and put it in my bag for the next day.

One day, my last at work before a two-week holiday, I was spectacularly busy, being called into various emergency meetings and never got round to drinking half of my latte (hence never washing it out either; it was an automatic reflex as I finished the coffee)

When I returned from my holiday, my desk area stank for obvious reasons. But non of the guys who sat around me had thought, when it first started to smell to wash it out/throw it out. Instead, they left it there and lived with it just so they could point it out to me when I came home. It was absolutely foul; so much so that I just tossed the cup. I just couldn't believe the stubborness of the guys to live with it!

You'd be amazed the stuff we're able to put up with. Just ask our wives... :p
