lol I wouldn't spend so much money on a backup phone. I bought an iPhone 4 for $45 on Amazon. I actually had some Amazon gift card balance so I only paid like $20. I'm only gonna have this phone for like 3 weeks and honestly its not that bad. Paying over $100 for a back up phone is a waste of money (just my opinion).

Would love to get one launch day, but us telecom employees always have to wait months, usually January is when it's available. So jealous of y'all.

Don't forget that some $150-200 phones are better than an iPhone 5.

If u are selling today and could not get in hold of a successor for a while due to demand, delivery or whatever the 50$ more you make might not be worth it. I'll stay with my 6+ since I simply love it. Hard to name a thing I would want on the next gen. Phone.

eBay.... have fun selling on that place! Have fun with their 10% fee too!
Never had an issue selling on eBay. But, yes the 10% fee sucks... but right now... selling an iPhone prior the new iPhone announcement... eBay will net you more money than selling on MacRumors Marketplace (everyone here knows a new iPhone is imminent). Craigslist is a hassle dealing with people offering trades and lowball offers. Selling on eBay to a worldwide audience, most of which are "average consumers" who are oblivious that Apple is revealing a new iPhone in 1.5 weeks.

Sold my 6 Plus last week for $660. Picked up the Note 5 though.....😎. I only sell my devices on Swappa, less fees.

I'm sure the supply is increasing for iPhone 6 models, and will only increase as we get closer to the the 6s. If you have a backup for, it does makes sense to sell now.

Already have mine on eBay. Now is the time to sell for maximum resale. If you wait until the next iPhone is announced on Sept 8th/9th, expect the resale value of your iPhone to drop by $100-$150.

Now is the time if you plan to fund your next iPhone with your current iPhone...

Or it is time to update the AT&T next plan so we can upgrade and turn the phone in! If you do not have a back up, it is pointless to sell your phone Right now. I only have my 6 plus, I'll be trading it in and upgrading when pre orders start.

I will be keeping my ip6 128gb until iOS 9 is jailbroken unless the ip6s is worth going without jailbreak. I'm sure I will love the 6s but I'm not so sure I could live with it day to day without JB but if I do I will sell my 6

I haven't felt the need to jailbreak since iPhone 4s, iOS5...

I got an iPhone 5s 16 GB mint condition flawless screen no scratches on Craigslist for AT&T for $225 to hold me off. How much you guys I'll be able to sell it ?

I'm thinking $175-200

Edit: Thinking of keeping it as a backup phone so when the 7 comes out I could do it all over again. I'm keeping it lol

This just seems like so much work. I just use my phone until I'm ready to upgrade (went 3 years on the 4S) and then trade it in to Apple for some slight credit when I get a new phone.

Being able to experience the latest Apple phones is a tough job but worth it. 🙂

Cheap backup phones. Hmmm... The Moto E and Moto G are under $200 and are pretty good for what you get. The Nokia Lumia 640 is decent and could hold you over for a few weeks if necessary. You could always stop by your carrier store and check out what they have and explain your situation. I haven't had any problems switching between phones on T-Mobile, nor have I ever been charged more money, but I'm not sure about other carriers and their policies.

$200 for a backup phone for 3 weeks...

I think I will take the $100 hit

Either y'all rich or I'm too poor, but reading people talking about spending $200 on a backup phone sounds pretty crazy to me -- it's fine though, it's y'alls money. I bought an iPhone 4 16GB for $45 and I only paid $20 because I had some leftover money on a gift card. I know I have to wait about 3 more weeks or so, but I'm fine. Of course I miss Siri, fingerprint sensor, Apple music (I paid 99c for 3 months with spotify for now tho), but its not worth paying $200 for an iphone 5s that I'm gonna use for the next couple weeks. UNLESS you're planning on giving it to your kids? a cousin? as a gift.

I sold my iPhone 6 64GB for $650. if I were to spend $200 on a backup phone I think it wouldn't be worth it. I would just sell it after I get my new iPhone 6s.

If y'all want to buy an iphone 4, I can tell you who sold it to me on Amazon. This phone is in such a great condition, clean MEID and the guy shipped it fast.

My back-up phone going forward will be my S6 edge
