Now messages shows up as complication on watch faces on phone but not watch

Updated to 5.1.1 without issue. Now messages appears as a complication on the new info watch faces. Problem is that they don’t show up on the watch face of the actual watch all. Am I missing something?

It's a half-implemented feature that slipped in to the bugfix release and it won't work until they finish it, presumably in the next major release.

Phone needs to be on 12.1.1 (currently only available in beta) as well as the watch being on 5.1.1: even with that they only show up in the watch app, not on the watch face. Presumably they will be enabled in a future update.

Nope not at all like that.

I don't even see them in the app on the iPhone to be selected for the new infograph faces.
