Now that we know a simple screen replacement will be $279 and a whole unit replacement (including for just a shattered back) is $549, does this impact your decision to get insurance for your iPhone X?

Yes, Applecare, first time ever.

If it was the same as the 8 Plus at $169/399 (screen/back break or general repair) I would've thought twice.

I always get AppleCare+. The service prices didn't have any influence on that for me.

I was going to get it regardless. I ordered my X through my carrier and did not selected it on purpose so I will just do the online purchase of AC+ when Imget it in my hands on the 3rd.
