Hello,

I'm trying to remove NOW TV Player app from my Mac. I'm running 10.12.6 and have already placed the app into Trash and deleted, however I noticed when I opened Launchpad that the app is still visible. When I try to delete the app nothing happens (No X appears, when I drag to Trash it just pings back to where it was). Whenever I open the app it asks me to download the latest update for the app.

I've contacted Apple who refuse to help because it's not an app through the App Store and I've contacted NOW TV customer services who have no idea how to fix it, they didn't really understand what Launchpad was.

Has anyone been able to remove it?

I subscribe to Now TV intermittently, but never use it on my Mac because it requires Silverlight. That horrible piece of software slowed down my Mac, even when I wasn't running anything that ran it, so I don't let it near my computer.

Try deleting Silverlight. It might be up to something that prevents associated apps from disappearing.

Try using something like AppCleaner, which is a handy app that will search for files and remnants of installed apps and let you delete them.

It no longer uses silverlight, it has its own Mac Player App now.

Taken from their forums, but in answer to another question, prob should work, https://community.nowtv.com/t5/Mac-...rsion-of-the-macOS-player/td-p/421232/page/19, good enough reason to bin it for good!
1. Hit Command+Shift+G from the Mac OS X desktop and enter

~/Library/Cisco/VideoGuardPlayer/VideoGuard8

2. Double click “uninstall.command”

3. Hit Command+Shift+G from the Mac OS X desktop and enter ~/Applications

move NOWTV Player.app to trash

4. Select some content to play and follow the steps to re download the Player

That's done the trick! Thanks, definitely won't be downloading the app again :)
