I wonder if those who use Now TV can help me out....

Is the UI/functionality of the Now TV app any better on ATV4 than on ATV3?
Does anyone notice better stability of streaming within the Now TV app on ATV4 compared to ATV3?

Some background...

For the last several months I've been noticing the stream cutting out fairly regularly when watching Sky Sports via the Now TV app on ATV 3 (once or twice per 2 hour broadcast). When this happens I have to wait a bit - sometimes a minute of two - before the stream starts again. ATV is connected via ethernet. I'm not entirely sure if this is restricted to the sports channels as its only the sports channels that I regularly watch via the ATV. I don't get this when I watch Sky Sports via Now TV on my Roku 3 or my iPad, and I don't get this when I watch stuff via other services on my ATV3.

Hence, I'm wondering if upgrading my ATV3 to ATV4 will resolve this and also if it will give me any better functionality within the Now TV app.

Now TV is exactly the same on aTV 4 (terrible!)

If this is your only reason for upgrading then, don't. You will be disappointed.

The interface is pretty dated but I managed to watch over 3 hour f1 race without any streaming issues recently. The quality wasn't mind blowing but was acceptable 720p.

Have you experienced Now TV streaming issues in the past (in particular, if/when you were on ATV 3), or have you always had good experience?

Only used a few sports day passes and it's been ok, no heavy use though.

Now TV is abandonware on the Apple TV. By contrast the Now TV apps on other platforms (such as the PS4, Xbox One, and Roku) are updated often and are light years ahead of the dreadful Apple TV version.

There are several large threads on the Now TV message boards about this but Sky never say anything.

If you want to watch Now TV, buy a Roku. Sky will never update the Apple TV app.

I had a cheap movie pass for two months, recently, and didn't use it after the first use because it was so bad. It's the same app as the ATV3, and hasn't been touched in years (like you said).

I tweeted them and they said "they were aware of it and were working on it" - I don't believe them, for some reason

They've been saying that for years. It's a lie of course.

Bizarrely there's a Now TV guy on the official forums who claims that ATV apps are written by Apple, so it's out of Sky's control when they're updated. He's either a complete Muppet or others in the office are playing tricks on him.
