Presumably means the usb end of the charging cable is now USB-C but no reason i suspect you can carry on charging your watch with existing set ups and pop this cable in a draw if you want, the disc part the watch sits on is unchanged. Also dont a lot of docks just use the cable that comes with the watch anyway so get a USB-C plug and pop it in the dock

The USB A cable plugs into the doc. On these docks they only take USB A cables

Just get a small adapter to put in between the old USB-A in the dock, and the new USB-C cable.

Correct the SE comes with the new "fast charging" USB C cable in the box but the SE is neither capable of fast charging nor requires it. ive used the same cabe that came with my original series 0 watch from six years ago in my dock for all of my watches without an issue. I wouldn't say that it renders the docks useless as there are tons of A to C adapters available ut it does add a kink in the chain. and for some dock like mine that have the cord and port routing built into the base it does mean that the new cable wouldn't work.

This is really a shortsighted and stupid decision on the part of Apple. For the SE watch they ship the fast charging USB C cable. They include no plug or adapter and it does not charge the watch any faster. The cable is USELESS. Thanks!

Why is this short sighted? Seems like most people would far prefer a USB-C connector for compatibility with modern adapters, computers, etc., whether or not the particular watch supports fast charging. If mine had come with the old-style USB connector, I wouldn’t have a single thing I could plug it into.

I personally have nothing I can plug the USB-C cable into. I guess I am being punished for not having newer equipment. If this was my first apple watch, I would have to go out and purchase a compatible plug at a cost of $20. The cable included is worthless to me. All previous apple devices I have purchased have included a plug compatible with the charging cable that was supplied.

So I spend $250 on a watch and have to then go buy a plug? What other product has to do that?

All I am saying is why was this adapter not included since the cable is unusable without it?

iPhone is the same thing. Apple tells you what's in the box, so plan accordingly when you make the purchase. Adapters are dirt cheap if you don't have a powered USB-C port available to you. I really fail to see why people make such a big deal about this. For instance, I recently bought a Bluetooth adapter for my TV, but I also had to buy a digital-to-analog converter to be able to use it since my TV doesn't have an analog audio jack. I didn't complain that they didn't include the converter, because not everyone needs it.

I have bought 3 apple watches, 4 Iphones and 2 Ipads. All came with a cable and a plug. Yeah, I erred on not reading the fine print that neither plug or an adapter was included but after buying 9 Apple products, I never considered either a plug or an adapter would not be included. I am over it but scarred on Apple. They spend more money on packaging than an adapter would have cost them.

not been the case with iPhone 12/13, watch I think started with S6, Samsung followed Apple's suit with their phones afaik, and there are more ... just get a USB-c/A adapter and ue an existing USB-A plug, and be prepared for the net time you get a new iPhone

It’s good to standardize on type-C, and there’s no need to give every product type-C chargers because a lot of Apple clientele will have type-C chargers for their iPhone, iPad, and MacBook. In addition, you can use the old Apple Watch charger with no problems. For that matter, the iPhone still works with 5 watt chargers and the Lightning USB cable.

If this is such a problem, I recommend leaving Apple and buying a competitor who caters to your exact needs.

hmm... Can't help remembering when I bought my last display. Lots of connections on the display, with 3 different adapters included in the box, but not the one that I needed (HDMI to DisplayPort, if you are curious). Some manufacturers do try to cover all the possible choices - but then you need a cable 6 inches longer on your particular setup.
Getting your own cables/adapters is kinda part of setting up the space for the tech you have, isn't it?

No reason to be upset at (or scarred from) Apple because you didn't read the product page. You assumed something that wasn't true, and I get how that's easy for us humans to do because we're creatures of habit, but Apple does clearly indicate exactly what comes in the box. This is by no means "fine print":

Then what is your problem? You already have a charging puck to use that came with your previous watch. Thats the entire reason to not include it anymore. And you, I'm just guessing, have an iPhone too?

Time marches on. I am still using a 2015 MBPro so no USB-C, but it’s six years old. I accept some inconvenience.
