i have a WD external hard drive which i format to ntfs to use as a storage for my WDTVlive. i format it to NTFS so i can transfer large files (4GB above)
Problem is when i connect it to my macbook pro i cant write to it... it only set to read.

You need additional software to write to a NTFS partition in OS X. Google is your friend. :)

I've heard reports of paragon and macfuse being quirky at best, use at your own risk if you do.
