number porting question

hey guys, I have an account with tmobile that expires in august (20th i think) and am going to buy the 3g on day one. My question is can I have them give me a new number on the 11th, then when my contract is up with tmobile have them port the number in august? does anybody know??

Yes, I'm pretty sure. I did the same thing. I bought the iPhone on launch day, activated with a new number, and then 2 weeks later I had my T-Mobile number ported over. Easy.
