Numbers is unresponsive. Experienced with iphone X and 14 PM with iOS16. Simply try to copy and paste cells.
With ipadOS 16 it’s fine.
Hope this will be fixed.

Which version of Numbers? Which version of iPadOS 16? If not done so, please update to iOS 16.5.1 and Numbers 13.1.
Some more information might additionally help: does this happen in a specific document? What happens when you open one of the Apple templates like “Monthly budget” - can you copy/paste? Can you copy and paste cells from Numbers into a Pages document? Is the Numbers-document located on your phone or in iCloud? Are you using Continuity/Handoff between your devices? What did you try/check so far?

It’s 13.1. It’s located on iCloud. It’s hard to explain per text only but easily reproducible. Not a show stopper but gives a bad user experience.

Actually it is NOT reproducible. Not on my 14 on 17b or several SE on iOS 16.5.1 I have access to. This is the reason why I commented. Why it is hard to explain? Can you share a file? You allow for copy&paste? What happens if you download the file from iCloud to your iOS-device?

Thanks for taking your time. Mark a cell (e.g. A1) press lightning symbol press copy symbol then quickly tap another cell where you want to paste it. you will see that it‘s lagging.
No difference in behavior if done from local or icloud Drive.

It does not lag on any iPhone - or iPad for that matter - I tried following your procedure on local Numbers documents, but for the sake of reproducibility let’s go with the included »Mortgage Calculator« template:

Depending on the document there is the occasional popup asking to specify what I want to paste:

but when I tap on the paste-symbol it works immediately, no perceivable lag.

What happens on your side when you copy and paste via the action-overlay, which comes up when you tap selected cells, e.g.:

?

Otherwise trying to nail this down: assuming that your phone does not run low on storage space and/or in low power mode, try turning on »reduce motion«, as well as turn off unnecessary background app refresh, then put your phone(s) in airplane mode (make sure to disconnect from wifi), and please check again.

I made a video:

Airplane mode did not made a difference. Storage: More than 800GB free.

oh, you need to double-tap to select a cell after copying cells - is Settings>Accessibility>VoiceOver turned off?

It’s not really double tap but it’s a small time when it’s not responsive. If you tap on “copy” and wait a little bit it marks the other cell as it should.

Is it something restricted to Numbers? E.g. what happens when you create a table in Pages and copy a cell there? Or any kind of object e.g. pictures placed in Pages or Keynote? If this is restricted to Numbers, might be worth deleting and reinstalling it.

I just checked again on the iPones from a few of my collegues, this does not happen on iPhone 2020 SE, 13 and 14 here (or the iPads; iOS 16.5.1(a), 17b3).

EdIT: found one! 😂 Can you check, wether Haptics is turned off?

Just added a table into pages. I can’t find a way to copy a cell, only the content. But this works as it should in pages.
Copying and pasting content of a cell works in numbers too without problem.

If I scroll through numbers it’s only possible to wait until the scrolling ends until I can mark a cell.
Interesting that you don't have a problem.
