numeric pad on mbp

hi everyone,
i‘ve got a quick question regarding the mbp.
is there a way (a software) which would allow me to turn normal keys into numeric pad? for example i'd like to press command + option and then one of these keys :

q w e
a s d
y x c

for

7 8 9
4 5 6
1 2 3 respectively

i hope you understand my question 🙂

Ah, I don't know the answer to that: I have an original CoreDuo MBP. On this machine it's the F6 key...

Probably does not have a number lock. I have the lastest edition of the white macbook and the number lock is no longer on it.

No the num lock is no more; the Penryn MBPs didn't have it either.

Other than using the number row at the top I don't think you can. But you can buy a USB number pad for next to nothing that will probably better fit your needs because then it leaves your keyboard open to use those letter whiles doing something that takes both letters and numbers
