As some of you may know, a few years back the white 24" imacs with intel chips started to sh_t the bed because of a common problem (The graphics cards kept frying). Now it appears that Nvidia has accepted this particular model of GPU was faulty, and is now compensating for this problem, however it appears only on selected apple models (laptops) even though this exact same chip was in some of the iMacs.

Given that the iMacs had the same chips and the same issues, does or has anyone had any success in regards to getting apple to acknowledge this issue?

    Cheers

I have my warranty repair receipt totally nearly $1300 just in parts for my 24 iMac (7600gt). One of the reasons it sits in a room by itself as I and loathe to sell something that someone might come back one day and tell me died less than a year after they got it.

Err, the fault lies with the 8xxx series GPUs, which were mainly used by Apple in the 8600M form in the MacBook Pros (the only other use was the 8800GT in the Mac Pro). The 7xxx series in the polycarbonate iMacs is not part of the same problem, nor had the widespread issues.

Yes, your GPU died, but it isn't part of the repair extension Apple issued, nor the recent court case against nVIDIA.
