Tried FoFiX? It's a mod of Frets on Fire which implements tons of new features. You made need to use "USB Overdrive" to map your controller keys to keyboard keys (can't remember if fofix maps for controllers).

The download claims to be a universal binary, and I don't see why it shouldn't be (it's written in pygame, after all). If it isn't, why not get on IRC and ask if there's a PowerPC build around?
