Hello,

A few days a go I had installed OS X Yosemite on my 2,1 Mac Pro 8 core 3.0Ghz, I want to update the GTX 8800 graphics card that I currently have, so, based on my computer specs and considering that I need CUDA, Open CL/GL for video and 3D applications, which Nvidia will give me the best performance and also runs with no problem on my 2,1 Mac Pro with Yosemite?. PSU on my Mac Pro is 300w.

Thanks for the responses.

I put this question in another Yosemite thread instead of answering your PM.

Your Mac Pro does NOT have a 300W PSU.

Time for research.

Hello Macvidcards,

In Yosemite if you go to: About this mac, then: Support and then: Specifications it takes me to this page:

http://support.apple.com/kb/SP30?viewlocale=en_US

Here you will se that the Mac Pro 2,1 - 8 core 3.0Ghz comes with a 300w PSU, so I sume that's the correct information coming from Apple itself.

Thanks.

Your link doesn't work for me, but whatever you found you are reading it wrong.

It probably says that there are 300 watts available via PCIE slots as spec requires 75 watts per slot x 4 slots.

You will have better luck if you pay attention to details.

I think he meant the 300W in total for the 4 PCIe ports. And I couldn't open the link either!

If you need power, you should wait for the GTX 980!
