We are hoping to get some advice on what Nvidia product will best suit our application.

    Mac Pro (2 x 2.66Ghz / 640Gb HDD + 1TB HDD) with at least 16GB RAM.

We will be running applications such as Adobe After Effects, Maxon CINEMA 4D, Final Cut Pro and Modul8 for multiple projectors running HD Content.

The best option would be 3 x NVIDIA Quadro FX 4800, though it is out of our budget.

    We are considering the following:

    3 x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285 or

    3 x NVIDIA GeForce GT 120

We are really keen to purchase some NVIDIA Graphics Cards. We are just a little bit clueless in understanding the differences and available options.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks, Mike

GT120 is a budget card and may not be suitable for HD content.

I don't think you can fit 3x 285s inside the MacPro.
Also the 285 is faster than the FX4800 in quite a few tasks too :)

It appears the GTX 285 focusses mostly on gaming.

Would we be better off buying one Quadro 4800 compared to getting multiple GTX 285's? We are interested in HD Video and animation. Not so much the gaming aspect.
