I was wondering, does anyone out there have the Nvidia GT440 Mac Edition, and if so would they be willing to dump the bios? I'd like to try and convert my GT440 into one so I can get the boot screens on my Mac Pro 2,1.

Never heard of a GT 440 Mac EFI.

If you want a low cost card with Mac EFI I would recommend GT 630.

I don't think there ever was a GT440 Mac Edition and so the rom does not exist, also iirc, MVC did not create any GT440 EFI either. Even more, If the efi rom existed, I doubt it would be 32bit compatible for the Mac Pro 2,1 you own. Someone more knowledgeable might correct me though.

TechpowerUp would disagree about the existence of the card.

Despite that article, I'm not convinced that there is such a thing. The only computer that could be for is the Mac Pro, and nobody mentioned it here in the Mac Pro forum. Every mention I can find of such a card on Google is just a list of specs. Can't find any used ones for sale. Can't find a press release announcement. Never saw mention on Netkas. MVC never did anything with them.

If it really does exist (A) I'm surprised, and (B) it must be very rare.

If you look, there is a complete list of GF108 GPU cards.

This Mac Edition GT440 you seek is nothing but a myth, it may well exist somewhere, but none of us here have ever heard of it, until now.

MVC or @netkas could make a rom for it, I'm sure, but who wants to waste time on such an old card. MVC does list a 2GB version of the GT 630, but he says it's "Metal Compatible" so it must not be the same GF108 GT630 that is a Fermi GPU and none of them support Metal.
