Apple is clever. They will respond AFTER the 30 day period is over.

Apple's response - if any - will be the same as it has been.

There is no reception issue. We're releasing 4.01 which will address the signal calibration issue that they discovered using the wrong formula. I imagine - any press they do will be to announce this "fix"

Like my annoying upstairs neighbor who stomps around her apartment constantly, fully aware that she makes my life a sonic hell, but refuses to do a thing about it, Apple too knows the score here, but like a spoiled bratty kid, they seem not to give a crap.

This isn't about some tweak they made to the Finder that irked a few power users. This is about 2 million phones that weren't designed properly. This is a major production error, perhaps Apple's largest, and certainly its highest profile mistake ever. The repercussions of admitting to and rectifying the situatuon via recall/exchange would amount to millions in lost revenue, a sizeable stock hit, and perhaps the worst part as far as Apple is concerned, a nice fat scratch in their shiny polished image, right at the height of their game.

Their silence is deafening. The longer they remain quiet (and by quiet, I don't mean concocting half baked scifi excuses for why calls are dropping...a 6 year old lies better than Apple), the more culpable they obviously are. But Apple is so used to controlling the flow of their entire machine, they don't know how to handle this. Like a bratty child prodigy who screws up for the first time, Apple is completely without the skills to grow a pair and deal with this like a grown up company.

The iPhone 4 has pulled the curtains open on the wizard, but the wizard has closed his eyes and is pretending the curtains are still shut.

Yup. The Iphone 4 itself really hasn't disappointed me, but Apple sure has.

Spot ****ing on with that one. It's pathetic and just strange, I have never witnessed anything like this, such denial and shadyness. Apple is really butchering my opinion of them, and that's really all I care about.

I am wondering if the slow data isn't as bad if not worse that death grip dilemma ? My iPhone 4 is slower that my wife's 3GS, why the hell did I upgrade ???

Something just dawned on me (Lawyers Ammo).. How was Steve holding the I4 when it had the data issue that forced him to move on in embarrassment?

This could show that they knew and had time to remedy the issue "Death Grip" before hurting the public.

Off to watch that WWDC presentation again...

Well after watching it.. the death grip was not in play. It did look like he was cupping the right side blocking the Wifi.

Apple will respond and expect it to be soon. I read a rumor tonight on this forum that we should hear something by 1pm Eastern time tomorrow. That sounds about right. When NBC Nightly News is reporting this issue, you know ish just got real.

Personally I think Apple made a huge mistake with their "hey, it's an issue with the bars" letter. I found it very odd in tone and highly ridiculous that they "just found out" about the signal issue. This antenna issue is not only very real but getting bigger by the day. And everyone who says they should just offer free bumpers isn't totally getting it. A lot iPhone users, myself included, have never and will never use a case. I use my iPhone with extreme caution and if it ever falls out of my hand and breaks, well, I'm willing to accept the physical damage that may be done. Anything to avoid a rubber band or any other contraption that would encase my cell phone.

I'll hold off upgrading until something is resolved. I suggest that is sound advice for anyone looking to purchase. And lastly, as I've said a million times before, this antenna issue is one of many examples of why you should never be the first group of people who purchase a new model at the initial launch. There always seems to be some kinks to work out at first.

That's the one you need to watch... the real deal footage. It's tough to see for sure but I believe he's got the iPhone 4 in the right hand - even so, the iPhone 4 (all 3 of them used in rotation in the demo) failed each time, whereas the iPhone 3GS (all 3 of those) all worked flawlessly, in the same exact high interference Wi-Fi overload conference hall...

This doesn't really apply, since he was using wifi, not 3G. You're not the first to think this. It's been covered in many posts.
