I've gotten that as well a couple of times. I thought it was the Obama campaign hacking my phone. :)

Thankfully it goes away, although I don't understand why it shows up on mine since I don't have 3G.

GPRS, EDGE, and 3G are all separate connection speeds.

slow: GPRS
less-slow: EDGE
fast-ish: 3G

9 player working hard for 9 innings = one of the 8 spots in the playoffs, 9=8

Joe Madden the manager of the tampa bay rays said that when they made the playoffs

Shouldn't that be 9+9=8?

Either way, he must be related to John "king of the obvious" Madden. "This is a guy who when he runs, he goes faster!"

Basically, if your iPhone cant get 3G, it goes to EDGE, if it cant get EDGE it goes to GPRS.

If you have a first gen iPhone then if it cant go to EDGE it goes to GPRS.

In 2.1, the icons for GPRS, EDGE and 3G all changed, so it shows up differently then previous software versions.

do you know what the O was before 2.1??

In the Seattle area, there are quite a few non-3G and EDGE spots here. Worst I have seen, 'searching... 3G'.

o = GPRS, which is the base of GSM
E = EDGE, which is "enhanced data..." and faster than GPRS
3G = it's the fastest out of the three connections on the iphone

pffft, mccain supporter :p

First of all, I showed no political affiliation and it has nothing to do with my political affiliation. I would have said this if they said something the other way around too.
Second of all, I warned because I saw a thread last week that was immediately locked for less politics than was introduced into this thread.

We get a lot more GPRS here in the UK as EDGE is still pretty limited. Although I think we have more 3G.
