Yes, but only on the EE network and not on the frequencies that O2 and Vodafone will be using.

Personally I'm waiting for '3' to release their 4G/LTE plans: they're typically far better for price and provide genuinely unlimited data tariffs unlike the other providers.

Seems like 3's plans are going to be the same (if not similar) to what they offer now. They've said that customers will be upgraded to 4G at no extra cost and I presume they'll keep their all-you-can-eat data tariffs, which is the best thing about them.

In addition what some US carriers called 4G is called 3G in the UK - for example HSDPA and HSPA+.

I'm on Three, using a 4s.
Three has an extensive HSPA+ network. I'm sure the vast majority of people in the UK don't realise HSPA+ exists. Oooo my 3G is fast lol.
Untill 4G masts become more widespread it's expensive for select main city coverage only and mainly for people with more money than sense. IMO

I tried out EE for a month. The 4G was amazing. 50MB download and 50MB upload speeds on my iPhone 5. Unfortunately it ate my 6GB data up in about 2 weeks! So I cancelled my £33 per month contract.

I opted for 3 on their 3G. The ultra fast network is not too bad in my area. I get 10-20MB downloads and 3MB uploads on an unlimited plan for £13 a month. I am quite happy to stick with 3 until they go 4G and see if they uphold their promise of unlimited 4G at no extra cost.

I have a feeling EE, O2, Vodafone will shoot themselves in the foot with 4G and the winner will be 3 who will gain a lot more new customers.

I have 11GB (3GB standard plus a FREE 8GB addon) on my EE Plan for £46 per month. Unlimited mins & texts too.

Just been to watch Kick Ass 2 & took advantage of EE Wednesday and got 2 tickets for the price of one.

Not bad. Their 4GEE speeds are excellent & their coverage is growing by the day. Best decision I've made this year.

Plus, this data allowance includes tethering at no extra cost.

There is a reason EE, Vodafone & O2 are not offering unlimited data & it's because it can have a detrimental impact on network performance. Three won't have a lot of capacity because they fared worse in the 4G Auction. We'll see.

I assume you're not in the UK? Those prices are horrific for here. I pay less than £20 for totally unlimited data, 5000 mins, 5000 texts...and get speeds comparable to O2s LTE on 3G

a bit to the west.

even more envious now.

we dont have unlimited data but 5000 of min/text/data would cost around 60 pounds

I just looked at the O2 handset prices, and I don't understand the economics. It seems that if you pay for the handset up front, it costs you £600. If you pay for it over the 2 years of your contact, you only pay £480.

You can't get out of your airtime contact (I'm not even sure if death exempts you!) So why on earth are you penalized for giving them more money up front?

On a completely different subject, also involving my lack of understanding - why is it taking so long for any network to offer 4G in Cambridge? It's pretty close to London, it's commuter land, it's as big as other 2nd or 3rd tier towns EE has gone to, and it's probably the country's tech /mobile centre (ARM+ inventors of Bluetooth+Microsoft Research+ more)
Strange choices...

Good to see at least there prices are the same as EE.

At the point I'd pick EE due to the much larger (and from my experience in the Midlands) much better more robust 3G network.

I personally think for a sim only they need to start at £21 with 1gb of data. £26 for a sim only seems far too much.
