I have insurance with o2 on my iPhone 3G 16GB, and if I were to lose my phone, would I...

1. Receive a 16GB 3G (bear in mind they no longer stock these in shops)
2. Receive a 16gb 3GS
3. Given an option to upgrade (3G--> 3GS) for a nominal £50 or something similar

Help appreciated!

It isn't insurance fraud! Someone informed me they have stopped selling the 16GB3G so was thinking do they keep a stock of 16GB3G's or will they do something else? They do replace "like for like" so that would assume a 3G not a 3GS.

they might not sell the 16gb 3g but they still have a nice stockpile of refurbished ones for people that "lose" theirs.

Why dont you just call them and find out what their policy is, since they dont keep the 3g in stock?

I think I will do that. Just seeing what anyone thought of.

I have had a replacement 3G once before, in mid march. They sent me a brand new handset, in box in shrink wrap, not a refurbished one.

if you lose your phone and they provide you with a 3gs (in other words, DON'T offer a like-for-like replacement but an upgrade for free) then let me know, i'll strip naked in trafalgar square and sing the birdie song.

Just under a year ago one of the captains I fly with dropped his original iPhone on the airbridge and it fell through the gap and smashed.

When he reported it he was told the gutting news that they no longer had any originals left and he would have to have a 3G iPhone...

my o2 insurance policy states that o2 will give me a brand new (not refurb) handset for £25 excess. Does that mean if I need a replacement that I now get a 3gs seeing as my 3g is a 16gb? Btw the screen's glass seems to be coming away slightly :/ anyone else got that? I'm waiting for the next iPhone before upgrading so this has to last about a year long and I don't think it will.

They replaced my iPhone 3G 16gb with....

a 3G 16gb!

I also asked and they lady said, no we will only replace like for like.
