The attached image (from O2.ie) made me laugh.

Apparently, the iPhone 3GS is "Out of stock". ...unless you want to go on the most expensive tariff, in that case it's magically in stock and available.

Maybe I should call them and ask about tethering & visual voicemail. Maybe when they said they were "unavailable", they just meant we have to pay extra to get them too..

Wow, so essentially the iPhone is only available to those who are willing to pay the highest monthly service charge? Couldn't you order the phone, and then change the rate plan once the phone is picked up?

I don't know if that's possible. The phone is cheaper if you go for the highest tariff, so I don't think they'd let you switch to a different plan during the contract. Unless you're upgrading to a more expensive plan, of course! :)

I'm quite happy with the phone and price; but it's the lack of features that bugs me. According to this comparison, O2 offer the most limited feature set in Europe.

On another note, I just found this interesting link, which seems to suggest all carriers in the EU must provide an unlock option:

It's wierd that thats the only one in stock.

But for £30 a month here (Probably about €38ish)
    I get
    1200 minutes
500 texts (4 texts can be used as 1MMS)
    and unlimited internet,

    and visual voicemail.

Oh and my 32GB iphone was about €115 on the above plan:rolleyes:.

Most countries seem to be getting ripped off for the iPhone.

My plan is better then the €90 a month fronm o2 IE.
