No, O2 doesn't have a WiFi network, it simply has an agreement with The Cloud and BT Openzone to allow iPhones to access their network for free. There is MAC address filtering plus a prompt for your iPhone number before you can get on.

Yea, I realise they use the Cloud etc but I guess the Mac address filtering puts the brakes on using a laptop on their networks :(

I guess there is no iPhone internet sharing app available?

There are some great wifi 'router' software for WM6 and Symbian.
