Ok, the last question!

Im now thinking im going to get an 8gb either from ebay or my friend when he upgrades. I never went for the 1st gen so i can use the time between now and whenever O2 deems us worthy of having the new version on PAYG to get into the whole iphone ownership the new apps store and v2 software.

Question is: Will i be able to port any apps i purchase to use on the 1st gen iphone to the 2nd gen? Im thinking it has to as if you had to replace a broken 2nd gen you'd have to get your purchase apps from via itunes/app store....but i've already had issues with my itouch with the store not "holding onto" my purchased apps. I bought the £13 update for mail and maps and when my mac needed a complete clean OS install (due to 10.5 not recognising the touch) i re authorised the purchased music but it didn't bring over the itouch apps even though the store had a record of me purchasing it.

I dont want to go off for the next X amount of months enjoying the new apps on a 1st gen to find i have to re buy them for the 2nd gen!

The apps will be in your itunes library so if you sync a new phone they should come across automatically, just like your music.

just be sure to back them up from inside itunes just like you do with your music right!!!
