Carrier O2 U.K. wifi calling

That reads as though they are going to use a separate app for WiFi calling instead of the built-in functionality of iOS9 which would make the release of iOS9 irrelevant
I had already talked about tugo, he had to go and check with someone else so he didn't spout a default answer at me like "we already have that functionality, please use tugo"
In the conversations I've had they have always touted the TuGo App.
As it's an app and not integrated it can be a little clunky and its not available to Pay As You Go either, which is poor.
I've seen many a post on the shortcomings of TuGo and would certainly welcome 'Calling Over WiFi' as long as it's available to Contract, Business and Payg Account holders.

The transcript in there is from a Live Chat Session which are Non Uk Callcentres who typically read from a script when helping.
With the 3 Network soon to rubber stamp the acquisition of O2-UK I wouldn't think they'll introduce too much to change services - of course I could be wrong.
A lot of the back end would probably work with wifi calling. The change is in how the phone routes the call
And even though it could be in iOS 9 it's up to the Network themselves to allow the feature via a Carrier Update, which is controlled by the carrier.
Exactly. I'm expecting a slide on sept 9 that says about at n t o2 and maybe Vodafone and more now supporting wifi calling in ios9
Not yet - O2 are still owned by Telefonica. I believe they have reached agreement with Hutchison Whampoa (3's owner) but it's still waiting on regulatory approval
Last I read it could take up to a Year for the sake to complete due to various acquisition ruling etc.
When 3 bought O2-ie they basically left them on their original contracts / tariffs.
I remember reading some O2-ie customers thought they may get the All you can Eat Data Bundle but No. This maybe the same when 3 complete the purchase of O2-UK.
Really hope o2 does make the change, I have no signal at work, normally just put the phone into flight mode and use WiFi. I don't want to use their app

Their has been a bit of speculation to how GiffGaff will be affected but as they are a MVNO its not I think guaranteed that they'll receive the feature. They have their own T&C and tariffs etc.
Regarding the Name -> And what I wouldn't give to be a £1 / $1 in front of them

Have you had any issues using TuGo ?
I've never tried it but I'd rather use Wifi calling natively. Using the app would mean that for example you would have texts in the TuGo app rather than in Apple's Messaging app.
I'm on Payg so cannot download it but have family and friends / work colleagues who have and have used theirs. I have to say it has its good points for someone needing signal but Yes it's not exactly integrated to allow a seamless experience.
Excellent tech post,though i'm not sure what the benefits of wifi calling are.
