Hi everyone, I need to get this question off my chest as it is only briefly and vaguely covered by O2. I'd really like to buy a new iPhone 3G but I already have the previous one, I heard that if I upgrade I can cancel the contract with the one I have now and pass it on to my new iPhone. Also I could choose to get a PAC Code to transfer my old number over to my new phone (which is what I'll be doing). Now here's what I'm not sure about, after upgrading to the iPhone 3G, apparently I can still keep my old iPhone, but what happens to it? Do I have to purchase a new O2 SIM card to put into it so that it can go on PAYG? Or has it just become a special iPod Touch that can't call or text people?
I want to know because hopefully if it will go on PAYG I will give it to my dad or friend. Thanks for your help.

Yes, you can get a PAYG sim and give your phone to someone else to use. It has to be an O2 sim, and you'll need the unlimited data bolt-on if you don't want a huge bill. Visual voicemail won't work, so yuo'll have to listen in sequence rather than picking which you want, but everything else will.

If you don't get the sim, you can still use the ipod, wifi browsing, and all the new apps. With super monkey ball, it makes a nice games console... and you only have to buy the app once to have it on both phones!
