Is it possible to buy the phone and cancel the contract within the 14 days and keep the phone?

Has anyone asked O2?

I already have a non-iphone o2 contract and was considering buying a phone cancelling the contract and then transferring my tariff to an iPhone tariff.

Is that possible? I do not think I can upgrade as I am only 9 months into my contract and I want a white iPhone so would have to buy it from Apple...

Is that possible? Has anyone asked?

Hi,

My understanding is that if you buy the phone and then cancel the contract that you are no longer allowed to keep the phone. Unless you pay O2 the remaining amount of your contract i.e. 18 of contract @ minimum £30/month = £540.
I believe this to be because O2 are subsidising the iPhone, unlike the 1st Gen which you paid for outright.

Or you could wait for the PAYG and buy that. Which I would think won't be anywhere near that expensive.

You might be able to get an upgrade at 9 months depending on how big a spender you are and the fact you're paying for the phone.
