Simply being in public means you have given permission from many court decisions. Chances are far less a geek with glasses will capture your face vs the many private and government cameras that everyone moves by everyday. With facial recognition on both. Then there is the bluetooth Wideband tracking and 3D WiFi tracking that gets integrated. If you want to use these glasses, okay.
But they will constantly stare at other people and record, possibly identify, them and monitor and report everybody's locations and movements whether they want to participate or not. I could imagine that this will create a lot of opposition by others, unfriendly behavior towards the wearer and maybe people masquerading in public to not be trackable?
How do you get everybody's agreement before you start to record everything anywhere?
That is an amazing video, thank you.I hate Facebook (sorry "Meta") probably more than most people and will never use any of their products but gotta hand it to them. They are doing a good job with these glasses. They are about the only Facebook product I think is good (even if they are still a privacy nightmare). They are a huge win for the blind community and give more independence to disabled people.. not just blind people.
Also, Apple should be embarrassed. Apple fans got a clunky $3,500 headset instead lmao.
But hey I guess Apple are "always late on purpose" right? They do it "right" eventually... when are we gonna get Apple specs?
Looks goofy.
This stuff is surreal almost out of a Black Mirror episode
Not many. I think these guys own most of the brands: https://www.essilorluxottica.comJust realized Ray-Ban and Oakley are owned by the same parent company. I was going to compliment Meta signing deals with different companies, thinking maybe they were trying to lock Apple, Google, etc. out of making a similar product. Is there another trendy sunglasses brand that is independent?
No- some of us actually respect others privacy when it comes to random picture or video and audio recordingMajority of the comments will be made by people who’s activity levels don’t need this type of data, or by commenters who barely have any activity level.
It's easier to notice Meta glasses recording vs mobile phone.Yeah, quite creepy. The white ones at least let you see the camera holes. The black ones, not so much. You can be recorded as you speak without noticing it.
Ever been to a retail store? You’ve been recorded your whole life.No- some of us actually respect others privacy when it comes to random picture or video and audio recording
(unless I misunderstood you post)
No. No I have not. When I was a kid, only banks had cameras.Ever been to a retail store? You’ve been recorded your whole life.
He looks like a less masculine version of Woody Allen.
this is by all means inevitable and it will come for you too. Not in the current form and shape as sunglasses, but in probably stylish and normal looking glasses - sooner than later. And it will be driven by a generation you are already disconnecting from.Yeah if anyone I know starts wearing smart glasses with a camera pointed at my face the entire time during convos and private moments, I’ll just stop hanging out with them.
Smartphones have already ruined us with doomscrolling, social media, short form videos, and countless other ways to keep us addicted and disengaged from the real world while seriously harming our mental health. Now imagine that but jacked up to 100 with smart glasses taking over your vision 24/7 and a camera always running.
Nope, I’m checking out.
Ready to jump down the glasses rabbit hole? Take 5 mins and watch this
I thought the video was pretty clear on that. But moreover people just want to buy known brands and are clueless about the quality or inflated prices. Just like you’d have to be clueless about privacy when buying Zucks wearable remote eyes and ears.I don't get why a simple piece of plastic is a monopoly. Seems like very easy to replicate. The chinese can spin 10 new brands within 6 months.
