From what I've read, that's misleading - it's more accurate to say that the OR will run Android (or portions of the hardware will) than it is to say they'll work with Android phones.

I've got an OR now, and I can't wait for the HD iteration, and I'd love Android portability via SlimPort or the like, but... I don't see it happening.

I have never used an OR but it has me more excited for that than I have for any piece of tech in forever. I do not want to get my hopes up but if it really makes you feel like you are in whatever world you are playing that would be incredible. For example if everything is to scale in size to the real world etc. This could be very amazing a few years down the road.

    These also look very cool

And I remember reading an article about some leaked roadmap for Microsoft with the Xbox One where they had some sort of vr/ar for it

A co-worker has seen the HD version at a show and says it's amazing. The current developer version is much lower resolution (about 640x800 per eye, much of which is masked off) but still very cool. I compare it to the old 55"+ SD TVs, where the picture was large but low-res enough that you could easily see each pixel. Still, it's quite immersive.
