HI, just finished installing 12.7.6 using OCLP 2.4.1 on a MP 5,1. All went well however, now my main admin account has been reset to standard so I'm unable to change or install anything new. Have tried to restore the sudoers file using TM but that won't work as I don't have admin privileges. Very frustrating so would greatly welcome and advice.

thank you in advance

Boot Recovery and delete /var/db/.AppleSetupDone file. Restart. You will be presented with Setup Wizard. Create new admin account and then set your existing account back to an admin account.

Hi BW, thank you for your help. So boot into RM (cmd + r), and then how do I find the /var folder when it's in RM?

SOLVED :

Have managed to restore admin privileges by tweaking Bigwaff suggestion. Am posting here just in case anyone else has this issue.

Boot into Recovery mode (cmd +r)
Check the target drive is mounted with Disk Utility
Run terminal and input the following
cd /Volumes/<target drive name>/var/db/
rm .AppleSetupDone

The cd command points to the correct path (make sure any spaces in your drive name are correctly represented) and the rm command will delete the .AppleSetupDone file.

When you restart, you will be able to set up a new Admin account, and once fully booted up, you can reauthorise the previous account to have admin rights.

Hope this helps anyone who faces the same issue after updating to 12.7.6 using OCLP 2.4.1

Best of luck 👍
