OCR text searchable...

I have a HP Scanjet Enterprise 7500 and a Fujistu 5530C2 I am looking to scan with text searchable ocr on my mac. The HP works with Image capture but there is no text searchable option...

There's several OCR choices listed at macupdate.com.
Those that work are not cheap.

It used to be that if you scanned a text page into a pdf then you got text not an image. I tried this years ago with a canon scanner, but have not done it recently.
