I spoke with a UPS manager, I was told as definitively as a rep is allowed to be, that if your tracking record shows what's pasted below you will see your phones tomorrow.
I also told them the address closes early to make sure the truck comes earlier than normal.

Where in SoCal are you at? My still hasn't gotten the goddamn ****ing import scan. I'm so ****ing deflated at this point. I really believe I'd get shipped out today and delivered tomorrow for at least ONE LITTLE SURPRISE. But nope. Screwed again. Never preordering online again, unless I get thru with a launch day estimate. What ****ing pain in the ass and you can't even cancel the order until you have the phone.![]()
Express Saver which turns out was just pure dumb luck from what I can tell. Mine is shipping to my office wonder if shipping to a commercial address vs a residential address has anything to do with it?
Well if it makes you feel any better, my iPhone is Express Saver, and all I have is an Import Scan from 12:30PM EST. Just been sitting there since, and I have delivery date of 9/24.

I cant speak for other areas, but if you are in NY/NJ and your phone is not checked into NJ by 10a tomorrow, it will most likely not go out. This is what the UPS manager informed me on at the least.
To play it safe, if its not in NJ, chances are you will see it thursday. It pays to be a squeaky wheel also.
How can you be positive it will
This is nothing compared to Christmas. World port can handle something like 2.2k packages every 17 seconds, and can turn over an entire plane to new destinations in 4 hours.
The backlog is not all UPS. We are talking about 3 planes of phones. The planes can handle 195,000 phones. So, we are looking at 780,000 phones hitting Worldport around the same time. If the statistics from the Survey Monkey site hold true, 390k of them cleared customs today*. There are another 390K that are the 9/25 crowd.
I can find data on how many packages Worldport can handle, but I cannot find a reliable source on clearing customs. The iPhone launches are unique both in the amount of packages, and a technical, engaged audience who tracks this.
UPS is pretty good at this. Both they and FEDEX have shipping logistics down to as much of a science as it can be.
There's not much we can hypothesize about this, but this seems to be the facts so far:
1- A shipment did not fly out Friday from China like it should have. Both UPS, Apple, and the Chinese government will point fingers, but the Friday flight did not leave
2- This caused the shipments to be disbursed and some left from Shanghai. I do not know packages that left China today also went to Shanghai.
3- The Shanghai shipment caused some sort of overload that became apparent during the customs check.
4- UPS should be good at working around these issues -- and I'm sure this is not the first or last time this will happen to them -- which leads me to believe Customs was not able to process this many phones today.
* Starting with the flight that came in, cleared, and left KY this morning.
Pretty much guarantee it will be delivered tomorrow.
