Does anyone use Octave? Supposably it is a freeware clone of Matlab. If so, does anyone know how I can open .m files created in Matlab with it? I keep getting errors when trying to open them but they fire right up in Matlab.

Or is there a better clone? I ask as my personal computer does not have a license for Matlab and my work/school one does and sometimes I only have my personal with me

Thanks

I'm no expert in MATLAB, but have a bunch of written .m file programs that I use. I tried using them with Octave and Scilab with no luck. So my point is that its not easy transferring the code to these clones. :(
