🔥!!! I make it a daily habit to meditate when I return home and whenever I need a moment to unwind after work meetings. It’s also my go-to practice before bed.

As part of my outreach efforts for this mental health awareness day, I’ve shared some app recommendations with my school for my new job as a student fellow for a state organization. Here’s a snippet I wrote on Headspace:

Headspace is an incredible and award-winning app that’s dedicated to promoting mental health awareness and self-care. It offers a wide range of meditation sessions, informative videos on tips to enhance your mental well-being, AI journaling with Ebb, soothing white noise, and much more. While most of the app’s exciting features are available through a subscription, there’s a fantastic opportunity for students under 19. A national organization dedicated to mental health awareness for young people provides a complimentary, unlimited subscription to Headspace. Additionally, students can avail of an 85% discount on their subscription. I highly recommend checking it out!

For students under 19, there’s a FREE subscription available. Simply fill out a form to receive a code: https://www.peerhealthexchange.org/go/headspace

For all students, Headspace offers an 85% discount on their subscription: https://www.headspace.com/studentplan

All Headspace users also have the privilege of sharing a one-month trial with others using the friend referral pass!

Halfway through my monthly challenge, I’ve been making progress in improving my 5K pace and running times. I’ve also hit new personal records on the treadmill.

 Fitness+ had an outage lately on my end (it is finally back up after i finished this workout) so I decided to hit some records today and utilising the headspace lifetime subscription to dial in my Pilates and Yoga after a long day today. So I had to pause fitness+ for like three days and check out some alternative options.

Headspace offers a smaller library of yoga, bodyweight HIIT, strength and Pilates. They don’t use dumbbells at all. Only exercises that need yoga mat, foam roller, and optional a chair or plyo box

Not sure what an uplifting infusion is. Sounds like a health drink!

😂 that name of that yoga workout on headspace is quite interesting. They name their energetic flows differently while fitness+ names their workouts mainly by trainer.

If I was to name a yoga workout after myself it would be something like creaking old man!
Like on headspace I heard a handful of their quick yoga workouts made for the morning hours are named like these:
“morning check in”
And a warmup stretch as “morning warm up”

Also the times of their videos are quite different. They range from 7 minutes to 45 minutes.

Hey everyone, I’m running into a bit of a snag with my activity challenge! It’s asking for 12 runs, but I’m only at 8. I’ve been running with Nike Run Club on Wednesday and today, but the runs aren’t counting towards the challenge.

I logged my first Nike Run Club run on Wednesday and another today, but they’re not showing up. I’ve checked everything—my iCloud settings, HealthKit permissions on my health, Apple Watch app, and Nike Run Club—but nothing seems to be working. Even after restarting my iPhone, Apple Watch, and closing and reopening the app, it’s still not working. And adding the runs manually on the health app doesn’t seem to help either.

My fitness+ runs are always tracked into the challenge, but not the Nike Run Club ones. Plus, my Nike Run Club runs are also connected to Strava. I’m planning to chat over the phone with AppleCare’s senior advisor on Monday morning.

Have any of you had similar issues with third party apps and activity challenges that require a certain number of runs during the month? Let me know what you’ve found!

I’m planning to do another Nike Run Club run and a first-party fitness+ treadmill run tomorrow to see if either of them will log into the challenge. If neither works, it’ll be a bit of a puzzle to finish it. Apparently, it should be 10 runs instead of 8 runs by today.

maybe the Nike app is not allowed to write data to Health? check the "steps" section in the Health app for data sources.

You could also just use the stock workout app and select outdoor run

And, in the Health app, steps, press the big "+" sign in the upper right to add data manually, I think the counts towards the challenge

Okay, so I went ahead and manually added the Nike Run Club guided runs to my Health app in the workouts section. I double-checked to make sure the NRC setting was on for reading and writing steps, workouts, and distance. It was on all settings.

But, bummer, it didn’t even count towards the challenge! Even though my activity challenge says I’ve completed 8 out of 12 runs, it’s still not showing up. Supposedly it should have said 10 runs.

I also mentioned this to the AppleCare advisor over chat, and he suggested I check the iCloud sync of my Health apps. Since I’ve already done all the steps with it, and it’s still not counting towards the activity challenge numbers, he’s scheduled me a callback with an AppleCare senior advisor on Monday morning.

While I was at it, I saw a similar situation on Reddit where someone had to do a run a certain number of times to complete the activity challenge, and they tracked their running workouts with a third-party app. The Apple Watch wearer used a Garmin running app to track their runs, but it didn’t count on their end. Other wearers mentioned something like this:

I’m probably going to switch back to using the native workout app on my Apple Watch to track runs for this challenge. If it still doesn’t count from there for the monthly challenge, then it’s definitely a problem.

Also going to file feedback on feedback assistant given that my watch is on a beta

That's a bummer, didn't know that.

First time I ever had issues with activity challenges.

Totally quite interesting to me.

Weirdly I did forget to log a walk for Earth day challenge as I was too busy doing an Earth day tabling event at school back in April, and I did add it in Apple health which counted for that challenge. But that was Months ago. This time both manual add and Nike Run Club didn’t cut it for the monthly challenge.

I’ve read on here before of people having issues not using the native apps.

I’ve never used any other personally as I find the native one does all I need.
Finally, I’ve identified the culprit. The Reddit post I linked earlier from that user who experienced the same issue as me is indeed correct.

The challenges that require a specific number of runs or walks must be logged on the stock workout app or Apple Fitness+ as either running or walking (per the challenge description). This includes the first-party Apple Fitness+ treadmill and the Time to Run guided runs and walks.

I conducted a back-to-back session of a Nike Run Club run and a fitness+ treadmill workout. After the workout, the running from the Apple Fitness+ app was only counted towards the runs in my activity challenge. However, the Nike Run Club run I performed before the fitness+ treadmill session was not counted.

TLDR; All workouts must be completed on the Apple workout app, the fitness+ treadmill, or their Time to Run guided runs and walks. Even if you choose to manually add the run or walk to the Apple Health app, it will still not be counted towards the challenge.

For instance, this workout did not get counted for the challenge:

This one got counted:
