From past experience how far ahead of the event does Apple send out invitations to the press?

I’d read elsewhere that “if“ there was an event that it would likely happen on the 29th. Working backwards we could make an assumption of whether it’s going to happen this year or not based on the lack of invitations.

I know the latest word is now 2020 but I was looking forward to a new 12.9” release this month. I don’t need one so badly that I’ll buy the 12 month old model.

My guess is if we dont have an invite by next Tuesday (the week before it is supposed to happen) then odds are we are not getting a october event, which oddly enough i am kinda cool with! Im looking forward to next gen iPad pros but word is they wont be released until next march, which, again, i am totally cool with.

Right now the way i see it, if they do have an invite, odds are its going to be pro centric with the new mac pro and the 16 inch macbook pro, and then they will do a one more thing with the apple glasses! Im not expecting to see ipads there, but i could be wrong.

If we go by the last event invitations we should see press invites tomorrow if there’s something happening on the 29th. Fingers crossed for a new iPad Pro 🤞

Yeah, the 3rd gen iPad was the biggest upgrade iPad has ever seen from not only specification but also a design perspective. I honestly don’t think we’ll see anything new this year and perhaps rightly so, 2018 was a monumental shift for iPad Pro which is currently not a full year old yet. Ultimately, I can see why they are in no hurry to rush an upgraded model and when they do, I agree with everyone here that it most likely will be a refresh of the current flagship.

I’d be happy with a slightly revised Pro, even without a new camera. The only items I’d like to see would be an A13X CPU and internal chassis reinforcement to address the bending issues.

i'm in the market for an update to my current ipad pro 12.9 2017

the problem with a march update is what they did afew years ago where there was an update in march ish time and then further updates in september the same year i was one of the few that bought the march edition and was very surprised to see an update so soon.

I can wait until march but i may just get one in the black friday/christmas sales if they have decent price cuts.

wasn’t that the iPad 3rd gen first Retina and only reason it was seriously underpowered and a numerous of other issues it only had a 6 month lifespan

Everybody said this last week. We keep moving the goalposts 😆 I hear what your saying though. It’s worth holding off this week..in case.

I'll be interested in seeing how they handle the Pro Macs if there is no event. Every design shakeup of the MBP has had an event. Even if it is just a larger screen and better keyboard, I'd imagine Apple would want to push it as much as possible. They probably want to clear their name of all the negative press related to the butterfly failures.

I don't see an iPad Pro refresh this year, if it does happen it will be a minor update.

What if the Mac Pro needed more time and they decided to push the event into November so they can do all the Pro stuff together?

Besides price and release, what else is there to learn about the Mac Pro that we don’t already know.

Were the 2nd Gen Pros announced at an event? I was just thinking that every 2nd release is kind of like an S version of the iPhone, so might they just do it on a press release as they did with the Air 3 and Mini 5.
