Yeah, this story is just so baffling to me. With 6 kids already, why in the world would she undergo fertility treatments?

Well looks like the person thinks doing such an unhealthy thing with no finical resources would result in a winning lottery ticket to a job and riches.

Seriously. A person would barely have any time with a few kids, but this idi0t thinks she can raise 14 kids by her self, AND somehow have time to teach other people?

Note she forced her parents into bankruptcy before these 8 kids, and her dad is leaving the country.

Who paid for the fertility treatment anyway (probably her)? The fertility clinic would be responsible for the upbringing cost of these kids. The tax payers should not be forced to pay for it.

Personally she shouldn't be paid for any interview and even then why would they want to interview her and promote what she has done?

Reality says a TV network somewhere is bound to pay her for an exclusive interview so no one else gets it.

Maybe I can have faith that Oprah wont get involved?

Having made so many irresponsible decisions already, should she be financially rewarded for it?

Then again, either she gets paid by Oprah, or she gets paid with tax money from US citizens.

Regardless of what this woman does or says the media is going to be pounding down her door anyways. So why shouldn't she try to cash in for as much as possible?

"Oh you'd like to invade my family's private life with your camera crews and a bunch of reporters with nosey questions? Sure not a problem, just cut me a cheque and we can get started"

Her privacy is not going to be respected anyways, so she might as well roll with it and get the money.

I need more back-ground on this story.

Is she but a test-tube, for their amusement??

Who paid the "freight" for this activity??

THE single mother of octuplets... Nadya Suleman, 33, plans a career as a television childcare expert... Experts believe that the unnamed fertility specialists who gave her in vitro fertilisation (IVF) should not have implanted so many embryos... Nadya Suleman, who describes herself as a “professional student” living off education grants and parental money, broke up with her boyfriend before the birth of her first child seven years ago.
It seems this "expert" bypassed crucial first steps in planning a family, like finding a caring husband with a reliable job. Real experts question the ethics of this latest multiple birth. What "expert" advice could Nadya possibly offer?

Side thought: There is no consumer vehicle large enough for her family. She'll likely have to mod a school bus to hold 14 car seats and strollers with enough remaining room for groceries and assistants.

Since TV has been over run with reality BS I am not surprised in the least here.
It is unfortunate but she'll become famous for something ... no doubt.

I hope this woman realizes that $2M will barely be enough. Then again, we can probably expect people and companies lining up in droves to donate to this woman's hatching plans.
ABC is covering this story as well:

I don't know if it's true or not for CA, but in some states if she were to go on welfare, she's required to name the father in order to receive benefits, and the state will go after him for reimbursement. If this is indeed the case, it's going to suck to be him. An earlier ABC article here intimates that all the children have the same father.

I'll bet you a fake internet dollar Oprah has a you go grrrrl , a "heroic single mom" label, and a stack of Pampers that reach to the moon ready to go.

There's some really disturbing stuff in this article which suggest that the woman's own mother think she's mentally ill with an obsession with babies. She doesn't have a partner, living with her parents who are divorced but live together and her father is considering going to work in Iraq to get funds to support them.

Either way, I feel for the children (all 14 of them) since they're unlikely, as it stands currently, to have a normal life. The worst thing about all the negative publicity is that it means she's even less likely to get some decent sponsorship from companies which will make their lives even harder.

Oh wow, I pity her pediatrician. I hate it enough when someone rolls into the doctors office wanting their two kids seen at one time, imagine having to register and work up 14

Yes, but for American doctors, isn't she just considered a really, really, really good customer? Her pediatrician would be delighted, since kids go to the doctor all the time for illness, shots, etc.

I guess some "celebrities" have become famous for less...

For less babies, yes. Paris Hilton was born. I think that's the only thing she ever did. That, and stuff dogs into purses.

i have a feeling these children will not be in living conditions where regular doctor visits will be scheduled..

I call this exploitation of children amidst a rather selfish, planned path to wealth and fame. I bet she had this idea from the get-go.

I bet that Oprah will go for it. The 'independent woman' angle she can spin from this story would be great for Oprah. Sad, though.

How does she qualify for being "independent" when her lifestyle is being underwritten by everyone (in the exaggerated sense of the word) around her?
