OCZ Vertex 250 SSD on MP 2008 8-core vs Stock 320 HDD

BTW, i looked at my XBench scores for the stock drives that came on both my MPs.

1st one came with a Seagate 320GB HDD: Disk Test: 51.02

2nd one came with a Western Digital Caviar 320 HDD: Disk Test: 78.18

Goes to show the WD is 50% faster, and I could feel the responsiveness. Just goes to show its a lottery with what make/drive Apple sticks in your machine!

yes.. that's the first thing i took out when i got my 08 MP. replaced the boot drive and added 3 more drives in the empty bays for RAID (backed up with time machine). I am ready to get an SSD right after i buy a 4870, that is my main "performance" issue at the moment.

5.6 times faster at 18 times the price. Makes my eyes water and wallet bleed but still, somehow, manage to be tempting.
