    I'm looking at a 2nd hand Vertex 4 for $280

or a new Crucial MX 100 for $220

    both 512GB

    What to do?

While I love the Vertex 4, $280 is way too much. I've seen private listings in other forum for $200. Get the MX100 if you're deciding strictly between those two.

If your budget can stretch, Amazon has the 1 TB Samsung 840 EVO for $400.

Wow, that's a pretty good price for the EVO, but I'm building a mac mini for a friend and the budget won't stretch to the 1TB. But with a 1TB HDD already in there, 512GB will be plenty, in fact originally I was going to get one with a fusion drive only for the same price. I have purchased the Crucial MX100

I wonder how a pair of 1TB EVO's would go in a Raid 0 in the mac mini?
