I recently acquired a 15" iMac G4 (for free-- yay me!), and I've successfully installed 10.5 Leopard on it. I'm posting this note from it, for a specific reason...

When I open the Applications dock icon using Grid view, I get this weird, semi-transparent horizontal gradient along the top and bottom of the "grid", as shown in the screenshot below (hence the reason I'm posting directly from the iMac).

Note: Switching to List view makes the odd gradient go away.

Using the Terminal "defaults write..." trick to change Leopard's dock to a 2D Tiger-like doc, apparently a trick to speed up graphics response, shows a similar horizontal gradient artifact. I've switched back to using the regular Leopard 3D "glass" dock.

Has anyone else out there with an iMac G4 experienced this?

That is normal for machines running Leopard that do not have a CoreImage card.

Thanks, Intell! Nice to know the video card's not truly failing on me. I can live with the Applications dock icon in List mode.
