Odd small problems

There's three things that have been fouling me up lately, and I'm pretty sure they might be related: First of all, instead of opening on the top of my screen, any applications I launch stay behind until I click on them: both in Classic and in Panther. Additionally, the hiding mechanism is busted on my Dock - it works fine if I have it permanently up, but it refuses to show when Hiding is enabled. And finally, menus/submenus don't work unless they get clicked on - I can hold down the mouse and have them operate normally, but I can't even get them highlighted after I click only on the menu name. The last two are both the computer not recognizing some mouse function: any ideas?
