Ode to the mid-2012 retina MacBook Pro

Randomly blacking out screen, overheating cpu, worn out battery... Serving me for almost 8 years now, I was on the brink of finally buying a new laptop. However, with plenty of time on my hands during this Corona crisis I decided to do some quick repairs and see what would happen. Blacking screen? Went to the local technician and resoldered the u8900 Vcore chip. Overheating cpu? Replaced the heat sink and applied liquid metal. Worn out battery? Replaced that one as well. For as little as €130,- this machine is as new again! Blazing fast for everything I need with a beautiful screen and still running the latest operating system. I'm going to keep this Macbook for hopefully another 2 good years to celebrate its 10-year anniversary, just in time for the new generation of ARM-based Macbooks. This machine, in my opinion, was way ahead of its time. What a beast.
