Curious what the size landscape is looking like, epically since so many went over to the M2 air and other, who now maybe coming back. Will you go for the 14" M2 or the 16" M2? Both beautiful machines!

16" for me. Harder to use on a lap or a plane, but it's basically a desktop replacement. Easy to move from office to office and use on a desk somewhere.
If I needed to use this on a Plane/Train/Coffee Shop - I would never get the 16", it's far too big IMO. The 14" is super sweet.

Yeah exactly this. I agonized and played with both in the store before deciding. My 2012 15” MBP was my favourite ever Mac. The 14” screen is a bit smaller than I’d like, but the size and weight of the 16” MBP, in my opinion, definitely take it out of the true portable/laptop comfort zone. So I opted for the 14”. The screen on the 16” is truly glorious though.
14" MBP base is the best laptop I've ever owned. Won't be upgrading this round - not compelling enough. But if the M3 is 3nm and battery life jumps significantly, I will. I love the size, performance and screen.
FWIW - I just got an M2 MBA to replace my bedside iPAD (I hate iOS). And I will say that the M2 is noticeably snappier on web page loads. I'm envious of y'all getting the M2 Pro/Max MBP in that regard. For basic browsing and email, the M2 MBA is kind of better than my MBP. . .

Exactly. (Plus a Studio).
The M2 MBA is simply an alternative to the iPad for me. The iPad is more expensive (by a lot) and heavier. Plus it runs iOS which IMHO is just awful. For $999 ($789 w/ my intel MBA in trade) the base M2 Air is an awesome extra device. Added bonus - the battery life is insane (for a laptop).
good strategy, the only thing for me tho is, for the plane, how would i watch my shows? lol

Ive always gone for the larger size simply because I can have more on screen, bigger battery, better thermals etc.
On Monday ill be ordering the 16" M2 Max 12 core / 30 core gpu / 32GB ram / 512 SSD.

Coming from 16" M1 Pro, it'll be a nice upgrade. Even if its only minor from the previous gen.
In terms of the 19, 30 and 38 gpu cores I feel like the 30 core will be the sweet spot just like the M1 Max 24 core was in Max tech videos, especially in the 16" model.

My work got me the 16" M1 Pro last year. I love it but I struggle to want to use it away from my home office due to the size and weight. Going to keep that strictly in my work setup now. I ended up getting the 14" M2 Pro for personal use and traveling. Love the size for portability but I would definitely miss the 16" if I didn't also have that as an option.
I'm torn in between and even thinking if I should get an Air instead. I have a 13" Pro from 2014 right now and for portability it's the perfect size. You cause it on your lap, on a (very) small coffee table, take it with you anywhere, it's basically perfect.
On the other side I can see myself missing a bigger screen in time especially for some more complex work, i.e. coding which I'm about to start studying soon so there's that.
Also the 14" seems a bit too big to be as portable and nimble as this small machine but then too small to function as a bigger laptop like the 16".

If you're going to use that machine for productivity and not just surfing the web, I'd pony up to the 1TB at least as you're already dropping serious coin on that MBP. The M2 16" 512gb SSD is half the speed of your M1 MBP 16's (any size) SSD.
